Classes for Aspiring Artists

We can't wait to create with your little Picasso!

Rent Our Classroom

Our classroom is available for your budding artists! You can rent our classroom for $10 per hour and use supplies that we will set out for you! Supplies may include crayons, colored pencils, markers, construction paper, cardstock, glue, pom poms, foam, etc. Let the kiddos explore different art materials. It's about the process, not the product! Call the Art Center (319-754-8069) for availability.

If you are interested in a private paint or pottery party or kid birthday party, learn more about those here.

While you're here, do our Gallery Scavenger Hunt!

Giving kids an appreciation for art encourages exploration, self expression, logical thinking, self-esteem, imagination, and creativity. We’ve made up a fun little scavenger hunt for your family to do together at the Art Center! Just stop by the front desk anytime for the scavenger hunt.

Indian Sand Painting with David Garrison
Saturday, June 5 from 1-2pm
Grades 1-6
$10/person

Students will first learn of how the Navajo Indians used sand paintings to heal the sick. They will select an Indian symbol and draw it with glue on top of thick paper. Then students will take pinches of brightly colored sand and sprinkle it on top of their design.

Instructor David Garrison learned the true ways of sand painting from the Navajoin New Mexico 45 years ago! His interest in this was from his strong bloodline with the Black Foot tribes of the North West.

At this time, students are required to wear masks during our classes. Soap, water, and hand sanitizer are available for use. Stations will be cleaned thoroughly. This is subject to change depending on CDC and state guidelines.
